2023 Show
Flashdance The Musical
The Kentish Players are excited to announce their 2023 show.
Dance like you’ve never danced before! FLASHDANCE THE MUSICAL tells the inspiring and unforgettable story of 18 year-old Alex, a welder by day and “flashdancer” by night, who dreams of going to the prestigious Shipley Dance Academy and becoming a professional dancer. When a romance complicates her ambitions, she harnesses it to drive her dream.
Based on the Paramount Pictures film (Screenplay by Tom Hedley and Joe Eszterhas, story by Tom Hedley), this is an inspiring musical about the power of holding onto your dreams and love against all the odds. The iconic score features such best-selling hits as “Maniac,” “Manhunt,” “Gloria,” “I Love Rock & Roll” and the sensational title track “Flashdance…What a Feeling.”
Dates: 22nd June – 24th June 2023.
Central Theatre, Chatham.

KP Charity 2022
Our Charity for this year is Galton Day Unit at Medway Hospital
The Kentish Players, one of Medway’s leading community theatre groups, have been raising money for The Galton Day unit at Medway Hospital. Every year The Kentish Players (affectionately known as the KPs) nominate a local charity to support, as we kick start our rehearsal process for our show. This year, the Kentish Players will be performing Calendar Girls The Musical, and we couldn’t think of a more fitting and deserving charity to support. In true Calendar Girl fashion, the cast braved to bare all and create our own charity Calendar last November! What started out as quite daunting and nerve wracking, soon turned out to be a fun and laughter filled experience, and frankly a perfect ice breaker for the show ahead! We have successfully and proudly sold almost 100 copies of our Calendar, with proceeds going to the Galton Cancer Day unit. Some of our cast and committee attended the unit a few weeks and handed over the cheque of £250 raised from the sales of the calendar to the lovely team of nursing staff.
The Kentish Players will continue to raise money for the unit at their fund raising events throughout the year, and at the theatre during show week.
The Kentish Players will be performing Calendar Girls the Musical at the Central Theatre, Chatham, 30th June – 2nd July.
